09 Apr Microsoft Celebrates Windows 10 Anniversary with New Update
Microsoft’s Windows 10 will soon have its first birthday, but this year all the presents are for you. Microsoft is making its Windows 10 Anniversary Update available for free to all Windows 10 PCs, and the update has some features that all users will love, including users of cloud Windows hosting.
Some of the new features included in the anniversary update will include:
- Windows Hello – Windows Hello allows the use of biometrics like fingerprints and facial recognition to grant access to password-protected accounts and websites. With all the password-protected accounts and websites we all must deal with today, it’s easy to fall into bad habits like using the same password for multiple websites, which can expose us to identity theft. Windows Hello makes access easy, while still maintaining tight security.
- Windows Ink – This new app will work with other apps such as Maps, Microsoft Edge, and Office to allow users to interact with their devices as they would with a traditional notepad. Users will be able to draw, scribble, make notes, etc. in an easy-to-use format.
- Making life easier for developers – Microsoft aims to make Windows 10 an ideal environment for developers. The anniversary update will further the success developers have had with Windows 10 Hosted Web Apps by making native Ubuntu-based Bash available for use, and will also make a number of other developer-friendly changes.
Windows 10 has been a great performer for Microsoft. The operating system is installed in more than 270 million devices, and users have already spent 75 billion hours using it.
