08 Apr 2 Overlooked Areas of Delegation in Small Businesses
If you own a business that involves more than one person, you already know that there is value in delegation. You hire people for their specific skills so you don’t have to micromanage every level. They are trusted in their positions or you would not have hired them. Yet, there are probably areas where you need to delegate and are not doing so at the moment. Things like network performance monitoring are elements that you should not even have to think about unless that is what your business does.
Sales: You may or may not be a part of your sales team. If you are, you have your own customers to deal with and should only be monitoring the other sales activities that are going on. You can check in with a customer now and then just to assure them that you appreciate their business, but you should let your sales people handle their customers on their own.
Network: Unless you are in the business of developing networks, this is an area you need to outsource. From creating the network, to network performance monitoring, these elements need to be handled by professionals who specialize in this area. Otherwise, you can waste a lot of time and money by hiring employees and handling your own servers.
These two areas can take up a lot of your time. If you don’t have people handling them who you can rely on, you are throwing money out the door. When these elements are in the right hands, you can focus your attention elsewhere, as you should.
